RESCOM SUPPORT - PORT ACTIVATIONS
Residence Hall Port Configuration
Most rooms have either four ports on a single wall jack or two separate wall jacks, each containing two ports. All odd-numbered ports are already activated and ready for use throughout all Residence Halls. The even-numbered ports are disabled unless there is an activation request. There are, however, a few exceptions:
- Putnam Hall: Putnam Hall has only two ports per room; thus both ports 1 and 2 are activated.
- Chancellors Hall: Room A has ports 1 and 2, Room B has ports 3 and 4, Room C has ports 5 and 6, and Room D has ports 7 and 8. There are no Ethernet port in the common living room. Only the odd number ports are pre-activated.
Request a Port Activation
If you wish to request that an even-numbered port to be activated in your room because of an additional computer or device, you may do so by creating a help desk ticket. Make sure to include your Residence Hall, room number, the port number, and reason you wish to have the port activated when submitting the ticket.
Port activation requests are normally done within 24 business hours.
