Job Duties
ResCom Help Desk is UW-Eau Claire's support team for the computing and networking infrastructure within Housing and Residence Life. ResCom Help Desk services are provided for the students and staff/faculty of Housing and Residence Life, including those living in hotels.
We provide computer and network support for Residence Hall users who are having problems with their personal computer(s) in their room. This position is responsible for assisting the students with connecting their personal computers to the campus network, via Ethernet, including troubleshooting of any network related problems. Troubleshooting and cleaning of student computers for virus/security exploits along with spyware/malware problems is also required.
Qualifications
Operating system knowledge of Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Mac OS X is required. A basic knowledge of UWEC campus lab software and applications is necessary. Must have the ability to troubleshoot computer network related problems, have knowledge of computer hardware and computer security. Must be highly reliable, have good verbal and written skills, get along with co-workers and have good customer skills.
Hours
10-20 hours per week, normal office hours are between Noon - 10:00pm M-R, Noon - 5:00pm F, Noon - 10:00pm Sundays.
Payrate
Beginning rate of $7.50 per hour with potential for advancement to $10.00
